The man who killed the brother of comedian Niecy Nash has been charged with stabbing his new wife to death.
Robert Heard, who shot dead Nash’s 17-year-old brother in 1993, is the prime suspect in the death of 35-year-old Demetra Doyle Heard, whom he married in June.
Police say Heard stabbed the woman repeatedly on Saturday morning at the couple’s home in Eunice, Louisiana and then he fled the scene.
Police captured Heard after a high-speed car chase on Saturday.
Heard and his wife had just married, nearly a year after his release from prison for another crime.
Heard was 15-years-old when he killed Nash’s brother, Michael Ensley, who was his classmate at the Reseda High School in California.
He spent nine years in a juvenile correctional facility in California and was released in February 2002, when he moved to Louisiana.
Within one year of his release, he got in trouble with the law again and was re-incarcerated for eight years after he was convicted of attempted second degree murder.
After his release in July 2011, he stayed out of jail and decided to marry Demetra Doyle.
The pair wed in June but neighbors of the newlyweds described the groom as ‘mean, just plain evil.’
Police do not know what the motive for the stabbing was but claim that Heard killed his wife on Saturday morning and then fled to Shreveport, Louisiana, nearly 200 miles north.
