A Milwaukee man has been charged with the kidnapping and second-degree sexual assault of a girl who had been missing for days.
According to a criminal complaint, Lamar Cone and his girlfriend approached the girl on her way to the library just before Thanksgiving, offering her a ride.
They took her to an apartment above Duke’s Bar at Water Street and Juneau Avenue in downtown Milwaukee and wouldn’t let her leave.
The girl told police she was pressured to “work the streets” and that Cone sexually assaulted her, according to the complaint.
The girl told police she woke up early on the morning of Dec. 2 and sneaked out of the apartment after being held captive for about a week.
She ran to her father’s house.
Police said they got a tip from someone in the apartment building that they had seen the girl with cone.
The girl told police when investigators came by, he made her hide.
Cone is also charged with physical abuse of a child and false imprisonment.
