Authorities continue the hunt for the notorious Craigslist killer. Three more bodies were found on Gilgo Beach in Long Island.
The first body was found earlier, but all four have been identified as prostitutes who advertised online using Craigslist.
The skeletal remains of 24-year-old Melissa Barthelemy from the Bronx, 27-year-old Amber Lynn Costello from North Babylon, and 25-year-old Maureen Brainerd-Barnes from Norwich, Connecticut were found.
These new findings come just days after cops identified the first body, 22-year-old Megan Waterman. Waterman was identified last Wednesday.
Waterman. Waterman was identified last Wednesday.
The murders occurred at different times.
Barthelemy has been missing since July 2009. She had grown up in Buffalo, but moved to the city to become a stripper.
Brainerd-Baines had been missing since July 2007. The killer’s most recent victim that we know of is Costello, who disappeared on September 2, 2010.
A source revealed that there are substantial similarities in how the four women were killed. As they have all been identified as prostitutes who advertised on Craigslist, the Gilgo Beach case has drawn comparisons to the original Craigslist killer, Phillip Markoff.
Markoff was a medical student who used the Craigslist classifieds section to find his victims.
