Torrance Hatch a/k/a rapper Lil Boosie was in court in East Baton Rouge Parish this morning for a status conference before his upcoming murder trial.
At the conference, prosecutors requested a handwriting sample from Boosie, for comparison purposes.
Boosie is charged with first degree murder in connection with the October 2009 killing of 35-year old Terry Boyd. Boyd was found shot to death inside of his home and Boosie is accused of ordering the hit.
Boosie’s next hearing is set for April 19th. The murder trial is set to bring on April 30th. Judge Mike Erwin is presiding over the case.
Boosie’s lawyers have subpoenaed Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to testify on Boosie’s behalf. Louding’s attorney, Margaret Lagatutta, has said she will fight the subpoena. Louding is accused in six other murders and prosecutors are trying to connect Louding as the hitman in the Boyd case.
In November of last year, Boosie pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiring to bring drugs into a penal institution. He was sentenced to eight years in prison on those charges.
We will keep you updated on the upcoming court dates as they approach. As always, Boosie’s fan base remains loyal, with many fans continuing to stand behind him. Boosie helped put Baton Rouge, and Louisiana rap as a whole, on the national music map.
