Arkansas Father Accused of Killing Two Young Daughters With His Car

LAKE VILLAGE, Ark. — Chicot County prosecutors have charged a Lake Village man with capital murder in the deaths of his two young children.

Authorities say Robert Carter Jr. was served with an arrest warrant just before 11 a.m. Tuesday. Carter remains hospitalized in Little Rock.

Investigators allege that Carter on Sunday drove his van through the yard of a Dermott home where his ex-girlfriend, Latasha Figures, and their children were living. It’s alleged in court documents that Carter hit Figures and the children once, then turned around and drove across the yard again.

Arkansas State Police say 18-month-old Amoni Carter died at the scene, and 4-year-old Indeya Nekole Carter died at a Little Rock hospital. Figures was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Carter was wounded after being shot by Figures’ father as he fled.
