Fourth of July weekend and everyone is escaping…including it seems the animals.
An olive baboon has been spotted wandering the highways and backyards of New Jersey triggering more than a dozen calls to police, authorities said today.
The animal is thought to have escaped from the Six Flags Great Adventure park, said Sergeant Edward Bennett of Jackson Township Police Department.

He’s travelling. It’s a heavily wooded area,’ Sgt Bennett said. ‘We had two calls yesterday and 10 or 12 today.’
Sgt Bennett didn’t seem too alarmed however.
‘We’ve had tigers, sheep, bears, cows, horses, bulls,’ he said.
A spokeswoman for the amusement park said it is possible but not probable the baboon came from the monkey jungle attraction.
The entire wildlife section is enclosed by a high chain link fence, topped with sheet metal.
