(NEW HEAT) Hollygrove Keem – Never Loved Us (Promo Tape)

Monday, May 22nd, 2017

The words “growth” and “power” come to mind when you think of New Orleans artist Hollygrove Keem.

“Never Loved Us (Promo Tape)” is a 6-track mini-project that serves as the prequel to Hollygrove Keem’s upcoming project, “Never Loved Us”. It is produced in part by super producer KC and features powerhouses such as the late great BTY YoungN, as well as Jay Jones, GreatWhite Stylez, Dash Carrera, and Punn Da Pusha. On April 29th, the world lost an amazing talent in BTY YoungN. His loss has affected Hollygrove Keem and many others who have vowed to make certain the BTY YoungN legacy lives on through his – and their music. One of the cuts off “Never Loved Us (Promo Tape)” is the emotional track “Letter To YoungN”.

Birthed from struggle and polished to diamond-like perfection, this amazing lyricist uses words to paint pictures of his everyday reality. While taking us through descriptions of his world, he manages to shine his bright light. Much can be achieved through hard work and discipline, and Hollygrove Keem is proof of this. His solo work, as well as that with the internationally recognized 0017th, has garnered quite a few accolades, including several NOLA Music Awards.

Hollygrove Keem is becoming a forced to be reckoned with and a lyrical phenomenon. Proof of that can be seen in the sheer number of streams and downloads his work has gotten in recent years, as well as in past media coverage. His most recent retail album is “Cut the Check”, a 13-track project put out by 0017th and one which has been widely acclaimed by critics, fans and music sites. “Never Loved Us” is poised to become another of his works that makes a way for more future greatness.

It will not be long before Hollygrove Keem takes his place among the stars of today’s hip hop music – while aiming for the superstardom that awaits him.

By: Hurricane Arlene

New Orleans’ 17th Ward has long been known as a hotbed of solid and unique talent – a mecca, if you will. The proverbial torch has been handed down from the legends to a new crop of lyrical creatives that includes and is a led by Jay Jones, Hollygrove Keem and prior to his recent untimely death, BTY YoungN. The trio has an amazing and unrivaled energy and are sure to leave quite a mark on the entertainment world.

The trio’s new album “Cut the Check” is a precursor to much more new music, but is a classic in and of itself. “Cut the Check” includes the smash hit with Fetty Wap entitled “The Zoo”, and contains features from the legendary Jay Da Menace (of Black Menace), recent 300 signee Navè Monjo, T3, AR-Ab, Remyboy Monty, and C-Dash. Breakout hit “Stay Down” is also included in the dope tracklisting.

Jay Jones recently began touring with Lil Wayne’s Kloser 2 U Tour and has traveled across the U.S. performing in various shows, including Wayne’s SXSW headlined show. Hollygrove Keem is a sought after rapper, having featured on countless songs with more material set to be released soon. At the time of his death on April 29th, BTY YoungN was a rising star affiliated with Cash Money/Rich Gang, and was a well-known rapper and entertainment personality. His loss created a ripple effect throughout the music world.

“Cut the Check” is available for download/streaming everywhere music is sold, including iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Music, Spotify, Tidal, JPay, and hundreds of other international outlets.

Saturday, March 25th, 2017

The Heat Magazine was able to get a listen and early live performance of “24” in the streets of New Orleans by the UTP recording artist a few weeks ago.

However, UTP Skip has a sense of humor and sometimes you can’t take him literally. The homie said he was releasing a mixtape with featureless  artwork meaning without face or eyebrows.

Skip kept his word and rekindled the streets with a super dope project laced with BlaqnMild production.

Track Listing

03 – Bubble Head
04 – Movie
05 – Drip

Brass-A-Holics Unveil Tracklist Artwork For New Mixtape

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017

Some may call it fusion; others may call it synthesis. The internationally renowned Brass-A-Holics, natives from the birthplace of jazz, call it a language being spoken between music colleagues. This language they are referring to manifests within their musical compositions on stage and recordings.

As a follow up to their debut album, “I Am A Brass-A-Holic”, Heat Magazine readers and faithful fans are soon to hear “Word On The Street-The Prequel”, an intriguing mixtape that serves as a precursor to their highly-anticipated upcoming album. Both the mixtape and album were recorded live in New Orleans. The Heat Magazine just received the tracklist artwork for the mixtape which is scheduled to be released as early as March 27, 2017. On March 30th, the Brass-A-Holics will be performing in Washington, DC at the Hamilton. Then, they will perform at the  Ardmore in Philadelphia on March 31.

As always, we wanted to share good vibes with our readers and Brass-A-Holics aficionados. “Word On The Street-The Prequel” will be available on most digital mixtape sites and reputable blogs.

The Heat Magazine: Why do a mixtape?

The Brass-A-Holics: We wanted our fans to have a tangible body of work that captures what we do best and that’s playing great music live on stage. Our audience loves the music we play that touches on various genres.

As a result, The Brass-A-Holics have created a phenomenal blend of well known songs but it is the manner in which they perform these melodic masterpieces that makes it unique.

“It’s not a whole lot a band can do with limited instrumentation when it comes to playing certain songs but our band has been able to produce a mixtape without restriction. We have guitarists, keyboardist, percussionist, and horns to assure our goals musically,” said Brass-A-Holics trombonist Winston Turner.
“The music is great. It sounds really good,” added Brass-A-Holics saxophonist Robin Clabby.

It’s a rare achievement for a live band to create a mixtape with so much rhythmic depth. “We can appeal to all audiences. The young and the old,” said Brass-A-Holics trumpeter Tannon Williams.
With such an eclectic fan base, The Heat Magazine is certain several music listeners will enjoy their body of work. We will be sure to feature “Word On The Street-The Prequel” mixtape audio once released.

In the meantime, check out the tracklist artwork here:

Yung Juko scores another hit

Wednesday, March 1st, 2017

After a whirlwind year spent recording, shooting videos and hitting the road for radio promo with Bigga Rankin, Yung Juko unleashed his debut project, “YNFA” (Ya Next Favrite Artist) on the front page of My Mixtapez yesterday. Hosted by Bigga Rankin himself, who recently came on board as a co-manager, this project is eight solid, no-feature tracks of Juko’s signature rap-ish R&B that will keep ya head nodding from start to finish.

Featured are hits, “Trust Nobody”, “Learn From The Streets” and the soulful “Pray For Me” which combined, have garnered Juko close to 3.5 million views on YouTube. “Trust Nobody” also had the good grace to chart on two Billboard charts, hitting the Top 5 on both.

Be sure to look for the kid if you are out and about at SXSW next month and until then, give “YNFA” a spin or two. It will definitely be time well spent.
