First Marijuana Vending Machines Go Live In Seattle

Thursday, February 5th, 2015

Weed history is being made in Seattle: the first vending machines to dispense marijuana flower buds debuted Tuesday.

The machines, called ZaZZZ, are being placed in medical pot dispensaries, which helps to verify customer’s age and identity since medical marijuana cards are required to enter the centers, said Greg Patrick, a spokesman for the maker of ZaZZZ, American Green.

Though vending machines appeared for the first time in Colorado last year, those sold only edibles, or cannabis-infused foods, and not the plant’s flower buds that are so often associated with smoking pot.

“It’s historic, there’s just no other way to state it. We saw the repeal of prohibition in the early 20th century and the mark that made on our country and the companies that did it right,” Patrick said. “We’re in that stage. This will only happen once in our country’s history, the repeal of this prohibition.”

The machines have a touchscreen where buyers can make orders, play video games and read medical information about the products. They swipe their medical marijuana IDs or driver’s licenses to make sure they can legally purchase the goods and must pay in cash or bitcoin since the federal government doesn’t allow debit or credit cards to be used in the sale of marijuana.

Like machines that dispense soda or snacks, ZaZZZ intends to speed up the distribution for those who don’t want to wait in a line at the dispensary.

In the past, Beyonce has been spotted keeping a very watchful eye on her husband Jay Z’s phone, and most often her creep activity seems to occur during basketball games.

Jay and Bey recently attended the Brooklyn Nets vs. Houston Rockets basketball game, where the Nets fell to a disappointing 113-99 loss at their home court in the Barclays Center. As usual, the couple’s baller lifestyle allowed them to sit and enjoy the NBA action courtside, so their view of the game could not be disrupted by any foam fingers or drunk and screaming fans standing in front of them. Their courtside seats also offered nearby photographers the opportunity to capture clear shots of the loving Carter couple engaging one another naturally throughout the four quarters, which produced priceless moments such as this.

At one point during the game, Jay Z pulled out his phone to exchange a few texts with some of his contacts, which quickly caught Beyonce’s attention. Over the course of their marriage, numerous rumors of infidelity have tried to infect their happy home; none of which have been proven true. However, Beyonce continues to keep a watchful eye over her superstar husband, and was caught clearly by cameramen sitting on the opposite side of the court as she gazed at Jay’s phone intensely to see who he was chatting with.

Luckily, it seems as though the person on the opposite end of the conversation was not a threat to their family in any way, as a pleasant smile formed on Bey’s face soon after Jay concluded his texts and they continued to laugh together and enjoy each other’s company for the rest of the game. Still, her creep face was truly a priceless picture.

Man Buys Playstation 4, But That’s Not What Was In The Box

Friday, December 26th, 2014

Man Buys Playstation 4, But That’s Not What Was In The Box
It wasn’t quite getting coal for Christmas, but it was pretty close.

Can you imagine purchasing an expensive item only to find out it was a box of rocks?

That was the case in Colorado. A Stapleton man thought he was buying a PlayStation four, but he got this instead two bags of rocks.

Igor Baksht bought a PlayStation 4 bundle at the Walmart in Stapleton last Friday. He said an employee who got it out of the locked cabinet told him the PlayStation was previously returned. He opened the box before wrapping the gift for his 13-year-old niece.

“Just to make sure everything was inside, that all the contents were inside, all the games were inside,” said Baksht. “When I opened it, I said, ‘Oh my God.’

He found two bags of rocks wrapped up like the cop drama version of rectangular kilos of drugs.

“I couldn’t go back because they already were closed,” said Baksht.

He said he went to a 24-hour Walmart and was told he would have to go back to the store where he made the purchase.

On Saturday, he said he went back first thing in the morning.

“He said they cannot do anything about it because they don’t have proof, how it came in, nothing,” said Baksht.

7NEWS reports they were skeptical of his story, but in previous years other customers have been duped by the same scam. In 2012, an Alabama boy opened his Nintendo 3DS and found a box of rocks. In the last couple of years, multiple people found notebooks inside their newly opened iPad boxes.

He said he called the store multiple times and even called the corporate office.

“I never stole anything in my life. The most criminal thing that I’ve did, I got a driving ticket,” said Baksht.

On Christmas Eve afternoon, the store manager called Baksht and told him to bring the box back to the store.

“If they give me a PlayStation, I’ll take a PlayStation if they give me the same bundle that I paid for. If they give me another console plus two games, I’ll take that, but if they don’t have it, I’ll take the money back and buy it from somebody else,” said Baksht.

He said when he bought the PlayStation last week, the employee who took it out for him also said the box was a bit heavy.

“I’ve never bought one before, so I don’t know how much it has to weigh,” said Baksht.

On Christmas Eve night, the store manager returned the game console and gave him his money back.

Torii Hunter Returning To Minnesota Twins

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014

Torii Hunter, the 16-year veteran free-agent outfielder, is returning to his roots with the Minnesota Twins.

Hunter, after playing five seasons for the Los Angeles Angels and two with the Detroit Tigers, has agreed to a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Twins, a source familiar with the contract confirmed to senior writer Jayson Stark.

The Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles were also reportedly in the running for Hunter.

The 39-year-old outfielder hit .286 with 17 home runs and 83 RBIs in 142 games this past season with the Tigers.

Hunter played his first full season for the Twins in 1999 and has put together a career that includes five All-Star appearances, nine Gold Glove Awards and two Silver Slugger Awards.

Hunter is a career .279 hitter with 331 homers and 1,310 RBIs.

Former NFL Vikings Star Orlando Thomas Dead At 42

Tuesday, November 11th, 2014

Orlando Thomas (pictured), a defensive back for the Minnesota Vikings, has passed away at age 42 after a seven-year battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) better known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease,

Thomas, a second-round draft pick out of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1995, played solely with the Vikings until 2001. The former player who stood 6’2″ and around 225 pounds most of his playing career, reportedly whittled down to a mere 70 pounds at the time of his passing. Thomas had a noteworthy career with his team, starting 82 of 98 career games for them and intercepting 22 passes. He scored four touchdowns, two on fumbles and two on interceptions.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. People diagnosed with ALS lose the ability to initiate and control muscle movement, which often leads to total paralysis and death within two to five years of diagnosis. There is no cure and only one drug is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that modestly extends survival. The viral Ice Bucket Challenge in support of ALS.

GX Gaming Series Maurus X Review

Sunday, August 18th, 2013

The GX Gaming Series Maurus X is a professional grade gaming mouse designed by Genius. Lets see what they have to say about this product vs what I think of it:

Bigger is Better

Genius: Larger and heavier than the original Maurus, the Maurus X is designed for maximum comfort, so gamers can play for hours without experiencing any wrist or hand soreness. And thanks to its 50g (1.8oz) metal weight, precision movements can be executed with ease.

Me: The Maurus X is a tad bit bigger than what most would consider an average sized mouse which in my opinion does make it more comfortable for longer gaming sessions and their claim of precision is feel is accurate and it is noticeable when going from an average mouse or track pad to the Maurus X.

Genius_MaurusX_03Performance Plus Style

Genius: The Maurus X not only performs like a high-end gaming mouse, it looks the part too. The rear logo and mouse wheel light up in a bold red, and the intensity and pulse rate can be modified. Meanwhile, the top of the mouse features a polished black and red surface, while the sides have textured, rubbery grips for total control.

Me: Just looking at the Maurus X, it look very intriguing. The concave left and right mouse buttons feel more natural and the mouse wheel is very precise when doing things like selecting a weapon while gaming. The lights on the mouse are a nice touch aesthetically pleasing to the eye but ultimately not useful. It could serve it’s purpose in more obscure ways such as if you knock your mouse off the table during a late night match you are almost guaranteed to find the Maurus X before your opponent finds his mouse. The polished black finish isn’t anything special in my opinion but the rubber sides are great for handling the mouse with ease.

Genius_MaurusX_01Assign Up to 8 Macros

Genius: All six buttons, plus the scroll up/scroll down mouse wheel inputs, are fully customizable, so gamers are able to assign up to eight macros. The intuitive Maurus X GUI makes creating macros a breeze, and also lets users quickly switch between five profiles.

Me: Being able to customize all the buttons on the Maurus X is fantastic. The only problem is the placement of the buttons themselves. Okay really just one of the buttons frustrated me and that was the “M2” button on the right side of the mouse. The “M1” and “M2” buttons, in their most basic function, are simply your forward and back buttons if you are browsing the internet. The problem with the “M2” button is that it is a pain to use. The pinky finger is just not designed for pressing buttons. If these buttons were both placed on the left side of the mouse they would be easily accessible by the thumb with a rocking motion that any gamer would be used to on any platform.

Adjust DPI on the Fly

Genius: Changing the DPI on a mouse has never been easier. With a press of a button, gamers can adjust the DPI from 800 up to 4000. Plus, with its overclocking SG-Core-i sensor and up to 1000hz adjustable polling rate, the Maurus X provides highly accurate targeting even at low DPI settings.

Me: Being able to change DPI one the fly (That is how sensitive the mouse is to movement) is really handy when you are switching games often. Some games require you to be quicker and other require you to be more precise with your clicks. The Maurus X lets you do that without having to go through your control panel and edit your mouse functions. Simply press the button in the middle of your mouse and before long you will have the DPI set perfectly to the game you are playing. It couldn’t be easier!

Price and AvailabilityGenius_MaurusX_07

Genius: The Maurus X is currently available in North America for the suggested retail price of $49.90.

Me: Retailing the Maurus X for $49.90 is a little high on my opinion. There are plenty of other mouses out there that do the same thing, minus the lights, for less money.

Bottom Line

The Maurus X is a good mouse, but not a great one. It has most of the things gamers look for in a mouse (DPI button, good mouse wheel) but is missing a few component (extra weights for better customization) and it also has extra things that don’t really matter (customizable lights). Taking all this into consideration if you are just getting into PC gaming the Maurus X is worth the money if you have the cash to spare, but once you get some experience under your belt you will probably be looking elsewhere.
