Vanilla Ice has been released from custody in Florida after being arrested and charged with breaking into and stealing from an abandoned home.
Police in Lantana say the recording artist and home-improvement-show host, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, was renovating a home next to the victim’s.
After the owners alerted authorities, police obtained a search warrant and, according to a Lantana police news release, recovered some of the items at Ice’s home in Palm Beach County.
The police department told media the theft is connected to the rapper’s ongoing DIY Network TV show, The Vanilla Ice Project, in which he and a crew renovate and flip homes.
The 47-year-old, who rose to fame with the hit Ice Ice Baby, was charged Wednesday with burglary of a residence and grand theft and taken into custody.
