Houston police are looking for three gunmen who barged into the 45 Smoke Shop on the North Freeway feeder road near Patton and shot and killed the owner.

Around 9 p.m. Friday, the three men burst through the door heavily armed, police said.

“They were all armed with a shotgun and pistols and they started firing and killed the owner of this business,” said C. Liu with HPD Homicide.

The owner was identified by family members as 35-year-old Michael Phelan. Police said he tried to fight back, grabbing a gun of his own, but he was hit four times and died at Ben Taub General Hospital.

“He didn’t deserve this at all,” said his cousin and business partner, Sam Cisnero.

It is uncertain if Phelan was able to shoot any of the gunmen.

“I just feel bad for his three daughters, his one on the way, and his wife,” Cisnero said.

On May 19, 1975, Ricky Jackson was a 20-year-old ex-Marine who had recently received an honorable discharge for health reasons. His 17-year-old friend Ronnie Bridgeman worked at a restaurant while he trained to be a welder at a nearby trade school. The two spent that day playing pick-up basketball at a local playground and then a game of chess at the Bridgeman home while Ronnie’s brother Wiley was washing his car outside. Meanwhile, in another part of their home town, a white businessman was killed by unknown assailants.

Less than a week later, all three were under arrest for a murder that they did not commit. Ronnie was finally paroled in 2003. Ricky Jackson and Wiley Bridgeman, by contrast, were just released from prison on Friday. It took 39 years for the state of Ohio to discover that it had locked up three men for a crime they did not commit.

Ricky and Wiley most likely owe their freedom to a 2011 article published by the Cleveland Scene which laid out the weakness of the case against them. The men were convicted based on the testimony of a 13-year-old boy with poor eyesight and conflicting stories. The boy, now a grown man, later filed an affidavit admitting that he never saw the murder. He also claims that he was threatened by police into identifying Jackson as one of the murderers.

“The detective said that I was too young to go to jail,” the witness said, “but he would arrest my parents for perjury because I was backing out. My mom was sick at that time, and that really scared me. I didn’t want my parents to get in trouble over this.”
The three innocent men were originally sentenced to death. Their lives were saved by a 1978 Supreme Court decision striking down an Ohio law making the death penalty mandatory in many murder cases.

Three scumbag reprobate rappers from southern Georgia reportedly committed unspeakably evil crimes against a female just because she beat the three in freestyle rap battle, according to media reports.

The three degenerate Columbus, Ga. men — Ketorie Glover, 23, Joey Betrail Garron, 28, and Robert Carl Johnson, 23 — decided to avenge their humiliation for losing to a female by deciding to kidnap her, gang rape her, sodomize her, shoot her and set the victim on fire and leave her for dead.

At a house party in Columbus, Ga., about a two-hour drive south of Atlanta, the trio of so-called male rappers met their match in a 36-year-old black female lyricist. During the freestyle battle, she out performed them all. After the third one was defeated by this cocky female rapper, the three men decided to get revenge.

One of the men reportedly pulled out a gun and forced her into a car, according to the Ledger-Enquirer, and then drove to a vacant lot on Farr Road. All three villainous men then took turns gang raping the woman. After they had finished sodomizing her, they doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. To make a heinous crime even worse, one of the men shot her burning body three times and left her to die.

Her smoldering woman was discovered and rushed to a local hospital, barely alive. Reports state that she has finally come out of her coma but remains in critical condition.

All three men were eventually tracked down and arrested and are facing multiple felony charges including aggravated assault, rape, kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, hijacking a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

As if that wasn’t enough, Glover is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A woman claims Sean Kingston and his bodyguard gang raped her in the singer’s hotel room back in 2010; however, Sean says it’s all lies.

22-year-old Carissa Capeloto claims she was forced to have sex with Sean, his bodyguard and a member of Sean’s band at a Seattle hotel a little over three years ago — this after she had smoked pot and took back 7-10 shots of vodka.

The woman claims she was invited to Kingston’s hotel room to meet the singer following a show, but when she showed up he was waiting naked on the bed. Capeloto claims the bodyguard picked her up and placed her on top of Kingston, at which point all three men proceeded to rape her while she was “obviously intoxicated, incapable of consent.”

Capeloto says her friend eventually came to the rescue. Police were called and Capeloto says she was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries consistent with rape.

Capeloto says the incident ruined her life and is demanding $5 million, minimum.

Criminal charges in the case were dropped in 2010 after police concluded that Capeloto’s story wasn’t credible enough to continue.

The trial is set for November.

#EPIC FAIL FILES: Idaho man lies to police about name, identified by name tattoo

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) – A 19-year-old Idaho man with his last name tattooed on his forearm apparently tried to give police a fake name and was arrested.

The Times-News reports 19-year-old Dylan Edward Contreras was arrested early Saturday on outstanding warrants.

An officer says he told three men who were walking on the street with a dog to move to the sidewalk, and that one looked like he might run away, so he asked for identification.

Contreras identified himself as Emiliano Velesco, and a police database search found no matches. The officer then had a dispatcher run a check with the birthday he was given and the last name tattooed on the forearm.

Contreras had three warrants for failure to appear on charges including providing false information.
