Fans File Class-Action Suit Against Pacquiao

Tuesday, May 5th, 2015

Suit seeks $5M from Pacquiao, manager and promoters for concealing injury.

A class-action lawsuit was filed Tuesday on behalf of two Las Vegas residents seeking more than $5 million from Manny Pacquiao, his manager and his promoters for fraudulently concealing his injury before his fight against Floyd Mayweather.

The suit alleges that Pacquiao and his manager Michael Koncz, his promotional company Top Rank, its chairman Bob Arum and its president Todd duBoef, admitted that they knew of his shoulder injury after the fight, but failed to disclose it to the Nevada Athletic Commission as required by law. They also kept it a secret from fans who bought tickets to the fight, purchased the fight on pay-per-view and bet on the fight.

Manny Pacquiao blames shoulder for defeat in fight of the century

Sunday, May 3rd, 2015

A dejected Manny Pacquiao has appeared before the world’s media following his bitter defeat to Floyd Mayweather in the fight of the century in front of a star-studded crowd in Las Vegas.

A crestfallen Manny Pacquiao has told the world’s media he lost the fight of the century to Floyd Mayweather because a shoulder injury left him unable to use his right hand.

It is estimated a worldwide audience of 400million – including thousands of people in Pacquiao’s hometown – tuned in to watch American Mayweather earn victory with a unanimous points decision in front of a star-studded crowd in Las Vegas.

Mayweather stands to pocket upwards of $180million from the super fight, while Pacquiao will take home around $120million.

After a build-up of almost five years, the pair took to the ring at the MGM Grand on Saturday night and battled through a closely-fought 12 rounds, with little separating them.

But it was the American who came out on top at the end of the multi-million dollar spectacle – retaining his undefeated record in front of a host of celebrities including Jay Z, Beyonce, Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg and Donald Trump.

The beaten Filipino, 36, has since blamed his defeat on a shoulder injury and said he wanted to have an injection before the fight but the Nevada Athletic Commission refused.

Tickets for the long-awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao sold out in less than a minute on Thursday afternoon.

Only 500 tickets were said to be made available for purchase at noon Pacific time through two Ticketmaster points of sale: online and by phone. No tickets were made available at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office.

The face value for tickets to the 2 May showdown ranged from $10,000, $7,500, $5,000, $3,500, $2,500 to $1,500, though none of the $10,000 tickets were said to be publicly available.

The more than 16,000 tickets withheld from the public sale will be split among the MGM Grand, the networks and the two camps, allotments that can funneled to directly to brokers at far higher prices than face value since they can fetch still higher prices on the secondary market due to extraordinary demand.

Indeed, a flood of tickets were suddenly made available on ticket resale sites within minutes of the primary sale. As of 1pm PT, StubHub had more than 200 tickets listed ranging from $8780.25 for a $1,500 seat to $141,575.25 for a $10,000 seat.

Closed-circuit tickets for 10 different MGM properties went on sale at the same time on Wednesday at a cost of $150 with a limit of eight per household. Approximately 50,000 tickets were made available online, by phone and at each individual property’s box office.

EsNews caught up with Floyd Mayweather recently and spoke to him about his potential opponents for his May 2nd fight.

While Amir Khan just showcased great speed and boxing ability in his unanimous decision victory over Devon Alexander this past weekend (December 13th), Floyd dismissed a fight with Khan next spring. Floyd doesn’t think that Amir’s fanbase is broad enough to earn a fight with him, and at this point, he is solely focused on making a fight happen with Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather spoke about reasons for the fight not happening over the course of the past 6-8 years, and how Manny’s promoter Bob Arum is making an excuse now that he doesn’t want to have Manny fight on May 2nd.

Gloria Allred Files a Lawsuit on Behalf of Ex-Fiancee Miss Jackson Against Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Thursday, September 4th, 2014

capture-20140904-183805-crop

Floyd Mayweather’s ex-fiancee Shantel Jackson is suing the boxer — claiming he attacked her on multiple occasions and once PULLED A GUN ON HER and threatened to shoot.

According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ Sports, Jackson claims Floyd first got violent with her back in 2012 … right after he was released from the slammer in a domestic violence case involving another woman.

Jackson claims the two were arguing when “He twisted [her] arm, choked her and forcibly took her phone away from her to look through it.”

Jackson claims Mayweather got violent again in April 2013 … when during another argument, he “bent her arm, restrained her, and pointed a gun at her foot, asking ‘Which toe do you want me to shoot?’”

In her suit, Jackson claims he then demanded her to remove her 17 carat diamond engagement ring at gunpoint.

Jackson also claims Mayweather invaded her privacy when he posted photos of her sonogram on social media — and claimed the “real” reason they broke up is because she “killed our twin babies.”

There’s more … Jackson claims Mayweather struck again in Feb. 2014 at his condo at the Ritz in L.A.

Shantel claims she was trying to leave following yet another argument — when Floyd grabbed her by the arm and dragged her back inside. She claims Floyd blocked her from leaving for more than an hour.

She’s suing for assault, battery, defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, harassment and more.
