(NEW HEAT) Devious makes history with “Bounce That” (Prod. by BlaqNMild)

Thursday, July 12th, 2018

“We gonna start this thing off right – we got Devious in the house tonight!” – From 1992’s hit single “Where They At”

New Orleans legend Devious (and of course, Hollygrove’s own) has long been a mainstay in urban music. His new single “Bounce That” was released just as Drake’s new singles are working to bring New Orleans’ unique and often imitated/never fully duplicated sound to the world! Super producer BlaqNMild created the track and added his awesome flavor to the already delicious recipe. Yes folks, it’s an exciting time in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Devious has long worked as an architect of New Orleans’ exciting sound, most notably for his historical work on DJ Jimi’s 1992 hit single “Where They At”. In fact, that song solidified the careers of not only Jimi, but Devious and Mellow Fellow and led to an explosion of Bounce Music as an entire sub-genre. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, we must put it out there that New Orleans culture created Bounce. The city’s own legends catapulted it into mainstream. Once it took its place in music history, artists such as Drake and T.I. helped to make the sound travel even further around the globe – BUT credit must be given to those who created, cultivated and nurtured Bounce and New Orleans music in the beginning! Devious is one of those “bricklayers”.

“Bounce That” is available at all digital outlets. A full length album entitled “The Narrative” will soon be released by Devious and you can expect to see some memorable collaborations on deck. Devious is a highly lauded, talented and awarded songwriter, artist, entreprenuer, educator, and mentor who has been busy gaining songwriting credits with Cardi B, Lil Duval, Project Pat, and more. As of late, BlaqNMild has been producing for Drake on “Nice For What” and “In My Feelings”, as well as on Devious’ upcoming album.

Be on the lookout for Devious’ new video and single “Coffee House” feat another legendary Hollygrove MVP, Fiend. In fact, be on the lookout for Devious and BlaqNMild to continue adding to the history of New Orleans’ beautiful entertainment resume!

Cash Money Content releases latest novel from K’wan

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

“Animal is a masterpiece.” – Ronald “Slim” Williams, Co-CEO Cash Money Records/Cash Money Content

On October 2, 2012 Cash Money Content, the book publishing arm of the iconic record label Cash Money Records, home to multi-platinum artists Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Drake, will release the street novel, ANIMAL from the 2008 Black Press “Author of the Year” K’wan Foye. A complex and bloody tale from one of this generation’s most talented and gritty writers, the story follows Animal, the infamous fugitive from K’wan’s well-known Hood Rat Series, on a tragic trail of revenge. The novel takes the reader through the rugged streets of Puerto Rico to the scene of the original crime, Harlem, NY, following the footsteps of a ruthless murderer.

Animal survived both unfathomable abuse from his family and the unforgiving streets, but stilled learned to love. Infamous for turning at any moment into a cold-blooded killer, Animal is the product of the world we all live in. There but for the grace of God go . . . any of us.

The book poses the question, when pushed to the limit, is there an ANIMAL is all of us? Is there something that could push you to the breaking point of murder? Are you absolutely sure there isn’t?

K’wan of Cash Money Content

ANIMAL, the first novel from K’wan to follow, Animal, his fan’s favorite character, is in stores October 2nd, and is a highly anticipated release. ANIMAL marks K’wan’s first release with Cash Money Content. K’wan’s previous novels include the bestsellers Welfare Wifeys, Section 8, Gutter, Still Hood, Hood Rat, Eve, Hoodlum and Street Dreams, all released by St. Martin’s Press.

K’wan has sold a cumulative 500,000 copies since penning his first novel.

Chris Brown Taunts YMCMB Crew Inside Night Club

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012

Chris Brown took home two BET Awards on Sunday night, and after receiving his multiple victories, Chris went out clubbing in Hollywood to celebrate, RumorFix has learned. While partying inside of Hollywood’s Supperclub Chris Brown allegedly taunted various YMCMB members that were present at the club as well.

According to a witness the club, “played Chris Brown’s diss about Drake and Chris’ whole section got crazy and he mouthed the whole part; it was funny. Young Money was on the opposite side of the room. Drake wasn’t there but his manager was, and executives Mack Mane and Cortez Bryant. They didn’t do anything though.”

They probably decided it would be best if they remained cool and kept it peaceful this time, rather than risk another battle of the flying bottles. Who knows how Drake and/or YMCMB will respond to this kind of behavior in the near future?

Lil Kim on Drake: “He is B*tch-Made”

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

Lil Kim has had her fair share of hip hop beef with a number of artists throughout her career. Back in 2010, the Queen Bee went head-to-head with Young Money’s Nicki Minaj, a feud that prompted fellow YMCMB rapper Drake to take shots at Kim.

Now she focuses her attention on Drizzy, discussing his well documented fight with Chris Brown and also bashing him with a number of harsh comments.

“I mean, people are so hard on Chris (Brown). He made a mistake, he owned up to it, and he and Rihanna have moved on with their lives. But since that incident it’s so easy to blame Chris. What I know about Drake is he is b*tch-made.”

She continued to aim a barrage of comments at Drake, saying that it wasn’t a problem for him to call her out but he didn’t get into Chris Brown’s face during the incident.

“Meaning he’s an instigator, and a p*ssy. He had no issue stepping to Lil Kim, I’m like five feet tall. But he didn’t try stepping to Chris, a man, because he’s simply a coward. At the end of the day, you don’t gotta be a tough guy to be a rapper, but don’t dress up in Gangsta Drag when you a b*tch. Drake’s a bottom – y’all know what I mean when I say that.”

Drake has yet to respond to Lil Kim’s remarks. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say, if anything at all.

Chris Brown And Drake Fight At WIP In NYC (Video)

Friday, June 15th, 2012

Brown has given a statement to NYPD investigators about the scuffle that left him with a gash on his chin and seriously injured one of his bodyguards, Big Pat. Unnamed law enforcement sources told the site that Brown’s celebrity lawyer, Mark Geragos, has handed over unspecified “physical evidence” that allegedly implicates Drake in the fight.

One of the rappers hanging with Drake that night, Meek Mill, has denied reports that he set the fight off by tossing a bottle at Brown’s group. Drake has also said he had nothing to do with the melee, issuing a statement on Thursday that read, “Drake did not participate in any wrongdoing of any kind last night at W.i.P. He was on his way out of the club when the altercation began. [Drake] did not engage in any activity which resulted in injury to person or damage to property.”

TMZ added that Geragos presented evidence to the NYPD on Thursday that allegedly showed that Drake and Meek were the aggressors, just hours after Breezy spoke to cops. Police say neither Brown nor Drake are currently suspects in the case and the Brown is being treated as a “witness and a victim.” And while Drake has reportedly been “cooperating” with investigators and his representatives have had conversations with police, it was unclear at press time if the rapper had been involved in any direct talks with detectives.

Drake And Common’s Beef Intensifies

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Drake has taken offense to a song that appears on Common‘s new album The Dreamer/The Believer. On the track “Sweet” Common addresses rappers who sing too much on their records.

“Some hoes ass niggas, Singing all around me man. La la la, you aint muthaf*cking Frank Sinatra, Uh, lil b*tch, yeah, this the raw right here. Yeah this the raw right here n*gga. Sweet muthafuckas, sweet ass b*tch muthaf*cka.”

Drake heard the track and wasn’t too happy about it. He told the crowd at Power 106FM’s Cali Christmas that just because he sings doesn’t make him soft.

“I will never stop doing this for ya’ll. I don’t give a f*ck if you have something to say to me. Say it to my muthaf*ckin’ face. Just cause I sing don’t make me no b*tch.”

During Common’s appearance on 106 & Park yesterday (December 19) he spoke about the song and said if the shoe fits, wear it.

“I’ll say this, it’s a lot of artists out there that sing. And I don’t think there’s anything the matter with singing, but I just feel like I wanted to stand up for hip hop to a certain extent and hear cats rhyming and hear some hip hop elements,” Common told Rocsi and Terrence J. “So what I really was addressing was all those cats that are out there singing and if certain people feel offended by it then they fit in that category. But I always want them to know that it’s just hip hop. And in hip hop you challenge people. What I said in Sweet, [Drake] must have felt like he was one of the people being addressed. So he decided to say what he had to say. I say we can keep it on a hip hop level. I think he’s a talented artist. But I’m saying if you wanna get in the ring, we just gotta get in the ring. And I’m talking about on the mic.”
