Tickets for the long-awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao sold out in less than a minute on Thursday afternoon.

Only 500 tickets were said to be made available for purchase at noon Pacific time through two Ticketmaster points of sale: online and by phone. No tickets were made available at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office.

The face value for tickets to the 2 May showdown ranged from $10,000, $7,500, $5,000, $3,500, $2,500 to $1,500, though none of the $10,000 tickets were said to be publicly available.

The more than 16,000 tickets withheld from the public sale will be split among the MGM Grand, the networks and the two camps, allotments that can funneled to directly to brokers at far higher prices than face value since they can fetch still higher prices on the secondary market due to extraordinary demand.

Indeed, a flood of tickets were suddenly made available on ticket resale sites within minutes of the primary sale. As of 1pm PT, StubHub had more than 200 tickets listed ranging from $8780.25 for a $1,500 seat to $141,575.25 for a $10,000 seat.

Closed-circuit tickets for 10 different MGM properties went on sale at the same time on Wednesday at a cost of $150 with a limit of eight per household. Approximately 50,000 tickets were made available online, by phone and at each individual property’s box office.
