Kardashians Sued Over Drugstore Makeup Line

Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian are being accused of stealing the name of their drugstore makeup brand from a high-end Beverly Hills makeup artist. Michael Rey, co-owner of Chroma Makeup, is suing the sisters, claiming they stole his company name, which took 12-years of hard work to build.

Rey says that his A-list clientele will likely be turned off of using his makeup, as he believes the Kardashian’s “Khroma” beauty line will be confused in the market. Michael fears that his upper-class clients will be embarrassed to say they wear Chroma, because people will think they’re talking about the Kardashian’s line.

However, sources close to the Kardashians revealed to TMZ that the sisters aren’t afraid of Rey’s lawsuit, because they’ve trademarked their line. Earlier this summer the Kardashians trademarked the phrases, “Kardashian Khroma” and “Khroma Beauty by Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe.”

Rey hasn’t trademarked the “Chroma” name, but TMZ revealed that you don’t need to register a trademark in order to pursue a trademark litigation, which is promising for Rey’s lawsuit.
