It’s Burning Last Words Of Girl, 10, Who Died In Her Mother’s Arms After Being Shot

The mother of 10-year-old Makiyah said her daughter tried to comfort her as the little girl lay dying in her arms after she shot by four masked men who opened fire outside her DC apartment.

The last thing Makiyah Wilson told her mom as she lay dying outside their DC apartment was to ‘calm down’ and that her wound was ‘burning’, the girl’s mother revealed in a heartbreaking interview.

Makiyah was killed on Monday, days after her 10th birthday, when four suspects jumped out of a black sedan and opened fire in all directions in the courtyard of a Northeast DC apartment complex.

Donnetta Wilson said she was inside her apartment when her daughter left to go get some ice cream, according to a GoFundMe. Before Makiyah could even make it off their front stoop she was shot in the chest.

‘I held my baby. The whole time she was saying: “Mommy calm down. It’s burning.” She was trying to get me to be calm,’ Donnetta told NBC4 in an emotional interview on Wednesday.
