On January 15, 1908 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

If you are on social media and not a member I am sure some are wondering what is the big deal. Alpha Kappa Alpha was the FIRST sorority created for African American women. Our history through the past 106 years is rich and runs deep in the organizations mission to be of “Service to all Mankind” From the Great Migration to the civil rights movement to the issues plaguing our communities today Alpha Kappa Alpha women have been and will continue to work in the trenches of our communities educating and making life better for all mankind.

To have the desire, go through the process, and have the privilege of joining the sisterhood is something to be proud of. So just let the AKAs have this day!!

Happy Founders Day Sorors!!
