Dr Walter Palmer’s trophy – Cecil the lion’s head – is unlikely to be up on his wall anytime soon because it has been given to officers before being taken to a taxidermist.
The head and skin hacked from a treasured lion killed by a U.S. dentist have been handed over to police in Zimbabwe.
Dr Walter Palmer’s trophy – Cecil the lion’s head – is unlikely to be up on his wall any time soon because it has been given to officers before being taken to a taxidermist.
The dentist – who’s been in hiding for four days – is facing the threat of prosecution in the U.S. and his international hunting organisation membership has been suspended.
Dr Palmer has received death threats and animal rights campaigners have ramped up protests outside his Minnesota dental practice after he admitted killing Cecil the lion – the most famous lion in Hwange National Park.
This evening, The White House said it would review the public petition to extradite the dentist after it exceeded the required 100,000 signatures. White House spokesman Josh Earnest said it is up to the Justice Department to respond to an extradition order.
