Dallas Rapper, G.U.N. delivers a message in latest video, “Caution”

Some time ago, it has been said that “The world is not ready for some people when they show up”. This holds true for the rap artist Christopher James aka G.U.N. who was raised in the Dallas area with Memphis roots infused with hip-hop. Instead of hanging out with his peers, music of all genres became his outlet by the age of 14. Diligently, James has developed a unique perspective on life and we know it as ”Geeked Up Music”.

G.U.N., an acronym for “Geeked Up Nigga”, is an artist who brings an energy unmatched to the forever evolving world of rap, and influenced artistically by groups such as; Guerrillas and Linkin Park.  G.U.N. audiences tend to be as diverse as his musical inspirations. Hip Hop Culture influences range from Eminem, Biggie Smalls, Lil Wayne, all the way to Meek Mill during his battle rap era.

Through this exposure to quality music, G.U.N decided to embrace “Rap” as a serious career path in his early twenties. Using his lyrics as a means to touch people, he expresses his goal to make songs that people can relate to. Recognized as one of an elite of the Dallas sound, G.U.N has built respect among the new era of young rap stars.

G.U.N recently tapped into those relationships and has released the Johnny Cage remix featuring Jxmmi (Rae Sremmurd). The original version topping over 160k SoundCloud listens by word of mouth.

There will always be room for innovative artists like G.U.N. keeping the hip-hop game alive. So make sure you’re on the radar – when this geeked up music is presented to the world.

Gary Native Yoson Tala breaks through the Hip-Hop Music Barrier

Growing up on the streets of Gary, In., you must live by the code or die by the code.

Keith Stone (later known as Yoson Tala) wanted to beat all odds. With Yoson growing up on the streets of Gary, he eventually knew that something had to give. Growing up, Yoson always had a love for music but it wasn’t until his freshman year in high school is when he fell “in love” with music. Watching and listening to kids rap on his lunch break fueled something inside Yoson. His cousin owned an independent label (S.G.P. Records) and that’s where Yoson started his craft. When Yoson is asked “what music influences him?”, he often refers to the “label cliques” such as “Cash Money”, No Limit and the “Ghetto Boyz”. He uses them as an answer because he knew that “ghetto based” people like them can make it with music. Yoson got so inspired by those “cliques” that he later formed one of his own…. The T.A.L.A Nation (To All Loyal Affiliates). Yoson credits Nas as being his most influential person in the industry to him. To him, Nas was telling his story of survival in the hood all while having style and discussing topics with meaning.

“Hip Hop is a couple of elements that comes from back in the days…that feel of music with an urgency that speaks to you. It speaks to your livelihood and its’ not compromised. It’s blunt. It’s raw, straight off the street from the beat to the voice to the words” ~Nas

Witnessing how his city of Gary was ruining lives with the violence in the streets, Yoson ended up moving to London, England for a year, so he could put his all into his music. Music gave him a way to express himself with all the pain that he had bottled up in his soul. “I didn’t choose

“I didn’t choose music, music chose me”- Yoson

Yoson makes his Imprint on the Entertainment Industry

In London, he found the much-needed peace that he wanted so he could focus what God had in store for him. Throughout his career thus far, Yoson has made a couple of solo mixtapes…” Storytellers volume 1&2” and “Indiana to England”. In 2016, he released an album called “Kreation”  on Itunes. Currently, he is working on pushing his single, “Bond Money” from the current album “Mr. Robot”. In the meantime, you can check out his arsenal of YouTube and Vevo.

With his rising success in music, Yoson had had the privilege to open for major acts such as Wiz Khalifa, Sage the Gemini, Lil Wayne, Migos, Drake and Big Sean…the list goes on and on. He also performed on the “Carnival, “Essex”, “ SXSW” and “Lovebox” stages. Yoson has been seen on the hit tv show “Bad Girls Club Season 10 Atlanta” and has been cast as an extra on ‘The Chi” and “Chicago Fire”. Also, he is currently preparing himself as a featured headliner alongside Silkk The Shocker (and a slew of others) for the 2017 summer tour “Go Hard or Go Home He just finished a show with MMG’s own Gun Play in Miami, Fl. Yoson is also a featured artist for THE HYPE MAGAZINE “Voice of the Midwest”.

“If you wake up deciding what you want to give versus what you’re going to get, you become a more successful person.”- Russell Simmons

At the end of the day, there is no stopping Yoson Tala. He believes that
through hard work and dedication, he can be the next Kendrick Lamar or J. Cole. Be sure to follow him on all social media circuits to stay in tune with his movement.

Anointed Sisters Declare His Glory

Thursday, April 13th, 2017

I was simply perusing the internet when I happened upon a viral thread that almost sent me in! The video I am referring to shows two women whom I now know are sisters singing and praising God as one is styling the hair of the woman recording. I’ve come to find that the spontaneous praise was in celebration of a birthday and praise is just what they do, and do it well.

It is written to lift every voice and make a joyful noise unto the Lord… well these sisters have taken that and made quite a stir on social media. Sisters, Ashleey and Chelsey Barnes have been singing since the ages of 4 and 6  and they don’t have any desire to venture outside of the sacred content into the secular world either. Ashleey, a cosmetologist and Chelsey an assistant teacher in their hometown of Grenada, Mississippi are both members of the choir where Chelsey is also ministry leader. Their home church Mt. Olive Pentecostal Holiness sounds just like the right pace to hone in on the gifting of God and use them to Glorify His name.

If you haven’t heard these young women LIFT HIM UP, here is a sample!

These young women have a sweet spirit about themselves and their mother, Pauline Mays stated to me, ” I saw the gift the God planted in them… it was raw and I kept them in church.” Chelsey says, ” I will stick with what I know” and Ashleey says, ” I have a heart for gospel!” They both have favorites in the gospel industry that includes  The Clark Sisters, Leandria Johnson, and Kiera Sheard. But if you ask me, I’m sure they could hold their own next to any considered powerhouses.

As I chatted with these young ladies I was thankful that they are very family oriented, head strong in the word, familiar with their talents and humble about it all. And as for the young woman getting her hair done in that video, cousin  Amber Johnson, thank you for sharing the anointing which has gone viral!!!

If you’d like to hear more from Ashleey and Chelsey or to book them for your next church event please contact them at BOOKINGBARNESSISTERS@YAHOO.COM

You can also follow them on social media and catch them live on Facebook for a treat every single time, it’ll surely bless you as it’s done ever since to The Algiers Diamond.

Atlanta’s icon, Torion teams up with Dae Dae on hit single, “Dinero”

Atlanta’s very own, Torion teams up with rap artist, Dae Dae on his banga, “Dinero”. This song, produced by DJ Luney Tunez was creatively done by fusing R&B and Rap together.

Torion Sellers was groomed from birth to be a shining star. As a singer-songwriter-musician-dancer-actor, the young ingénue is looking to rejuvenate and revolutionize the entertainment industry. A talented purveyor of Rhythm & Blues, Torion got his start in the church as a young Gospel choirboy. He officially entered the music business before he was a teenager, entertaining adult audiences at the age of 12. Torion would accompany his father, Todd, a musician, to nightclubs to perform with a live band.

An Atlanta, GA native with maternal roots in Monroe, Louisiana, Torion’s musical style is a reflection of his deep, powerful southern heritage. From Blues, Funk, Soul to R&B and Pop, Torion is setting a new standard for the industry, essentially creating a new genre. His musical style is a melodic gumbo; one that combines impassioned lyrics, and robust vocals with brassy arrangements.

“When I get in the booth I put my pain and life into the music so people can feel it just as I do,” “My music is something for the people to feel good to.”

In 2011, Torion inked a deal with Lil Wayne and went on to record with hit-makers Polow da Don, Rico Love, Rodney Jerkins Detail, Stargate (Roc Nation), Luney Tunez and Silento, to name a few. He later released an EP entitled Alive, hosted by DJ Blackboy, which was based on the movie BarberShop 3: The Next Cut, in which he appeared. His last single, “Flavas,” produced by ANTMAN is an up-tempo celebratory anthem composed exclusively to finesse the ladies.

“It’s pretty much me speaking to all the beautiful women around the world; all colors and sizes. This song is about inclusion and applauding the beauty I see externally but also internally. I was raised by and around strong women.”

Torion has opened for celebrated artists such as Charlie Wilson, Bobby Brown and Tank and embarked on the Scream Tour in 2012 where he showcased his vocal and dance skills alongside Diggy Simmons and the OMG Girlz. He has also shared the stage with Mindless Behavior, Silento, and TK & Cash, among others.

Inspired by the solid work ethic and artistic integrity of Michael Jackson, Torion is looking to become a staple in the realm of entertainment. Listing more words on a page won’t do the vastness of Torion’s talent or brilliance justice. The vibrant colorful music he creates, that brims with life, authenticity, and possibility, can only be heard and felt.

“I want to be known as the artist that does whatever it takes to win, a workaholic, a go-getter and just someone who is chill, humble yet outspoken when the time is right.”

2017 proves to be even more prosperous Torion. He is the South East Regional Ambassador for “Fresh Empire”, an anti-tobacco campaign that uses music as a platform to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking. In January 2017, Torion was invited to perform at the 25th Anniversary Trumpet Awards; where he lead in paying tribute to New Edition. With the release of his single “Dinero” featuring rapper Dae Dae – Torion’s music and artistry are an unstoppable force.

Torion is destined for greatness and will prove this in the years to come. Be sure to follow him on all social media outlets and add this to your playlists on Spotify, Soundcloud or Tidal. The single is available on Itunes and Google play stores.

Platinum Songwriter Dappa Returns With Back to Back Visuals

Monday, December 5th, 2016

In an interval, New Orleans eclectic hip hop artist Dappa has been busy assisting the careers of other artists in New Orleans and abroad. Whether it was recording engineering, live shows, producing, or songwriting, he immersed himself in the arts and displayed selflessness this past few years.

All of this has transpired on the heels of being a vital  element in the rap group “The Rap Pack”. Dappa’s talent transcends his participation with this talented group. He quietly gained platinum success due to his songwriting contribution on Baby Boy Da Prince’s single “The Way I Live”.

Last year in the studio with Dappa while recording a collaborative effort, he mentioned that he was unsure of when to release new material but still remained focused and humble.

A year later, he’s planting seeds of great and unique music. Ranging from fun recordings to heartfelt products, Dappa is in his zone and his creativity is currently manifesting.

The second entry is a compelling video that speaks internally to Dappa and serves as extrinsic motivation to other creatives in the music industry.

The Heat wants our readers to observe his new visual “Motivation” here:

His first entry consolidates a season of thanksgiving while he participates in the trendy “U Name It” challenge. This particular visual garnered rapid feedback and landed him an interview and live performance on news anchor Sheba Turk’s specialty show “504”.
