An awful scenario unfolded earlier today when a 14-year-old shot himself in the face in a New Hampshire elementary school cafeteria. There were reportedly dozens of kids eating when the incident occurred.
The teen was identified by a relative and other students as Hunter Mack. He was transported and admitted to a local hospital just after the shooting incident that occurred around at Walpole Elementary School in southwestern New Hampshire. Police locked the school down for several hours, but no one else was injured.
In a report from the AP, the Cheshire County attorney speculated that the student may have been upset about a “relationship issue” with a girl.
As of Friday afternoon, the student was in serious condition in the intensive care unit. It is unknown what kind of gun was used in the incident or how the teen came to possess it. About 70 kids were in the school cafeteria of the time of the incident.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to this young man’s family at this time.
